Home Delivered Meals Program
Meals on Wheels of the Sandhills' home delivered meal service provides food and fellowship that can give loved ones the ability to stay in their own home with peace, comfort, and independence knowing they are checked on daily. Homebound indicates that the meal recipient is unable to work, drive, or leave their home without assistance.
Our organization has 2 meal delivery options:
Option 1: Our volunteers deliver a hot, nutritious meal between 11:30-1:30pm Monday through Friday, including weekday holidays to CENTRAL and SOUTHERN MOORE County homebound residents. Additionally, a weekend bag with Campbell's soup and snacks is delivered every Friday.
Option 2: Our volunteers deliver a 5-pack of frozen meals with a weekend Campbell's soup/snack bag each Monday between 11:30-1pm
In collaboration with TRIO Community Meals, our program offers a nutritious meal that contains 1/3 of the minimum daily nutritional requirements for older adults. Each meal includes the following:

- One serving of lean protein
- Two servings of complex carbohydrates such as vegetables and bread/starch
Nutritionally, each meal has:
- At least 700 calories
- Less than 1,300 mg of sodium
- Less than 30% of its calories from fat
Meal Eligibility
Our services are available to residents of Foxfire, Whispering Pines, Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen, and Pinebluff, NC who are HOMEBOUND as the result of age, disability, or illness. Homebound refers to the meal recipient being unable to work, drive, or leave their home without any assistance.
Most recipients of meals live alone and are elderly, handicapped, malnourished, or otherwise unable to prepare meals for themselves and do not have someone to prepare meals for them.
However, people of all incomes over the age of 18 years old may be eligible for meals if they are homebound and unable to work, drive, or leave their homes without assistance. Meals on Wheels of the Sandhills does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, color, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or national origin.
If you do not live in Moore County, please click here to find the Meals on Wheels organization that services your area.
Our services include different options for receiving and paying for meals. When applying, please choose the option that best meets your needs.
Programs
If you are being released from rehab/hospital, experiencing a short-term medical illness, or experiencing a situation where you’re homebound and unable to cook your own meals or find someone to, then apply for our short-term program.
If you’re permanently homebound and unable to cook your own meals or find someone to, then apply for our long-term program. Meal recipient needs will be reassessed annually.
If you're a current meal recipient with a dog or cat and are in need of food for them, please contact us about our no-cost pet food program.
As a 501c3 organization, we rely on donations and grants to offer services to those in need. We are not funded by the local, state, or federal government. All meals are delivered with love by volunteers driving their own vehicles.
Program Payment Types
If you are in a financial position to pay for your meals so that donations can be used to help others, meals cost $5/each and can be paid monthly, online or via mail. Please indicate self-pay on your application.
If you are financially unable to pay $5/meal but still need a hot, nutritious meal because you are homebound and unable to cook for yourself or don’t have anyone else to cook for you, please let us know when you apply so we can find you a meal sponsorship. Homebound indicates the meal recipient is unable to work, drive, or leave their home without assistance.
